Project #1 Construction Drawings
Project 1 is a 2 story building, the first floor being an office and the second floor is an apartment. The building is located in a small city, and is 30' x 40'.
For the first floor, I wanted it to be easy to walkthrough and be able to get around the office easily. On the first floor the first thing you walk into is the reception. Looking to the left of the reception is the storage room and the mechanical room. Coming from the reception going straight, you walk into the open office where you will find some workstations with office workers at them. On the right side of the open office are 2 bathrooms, one for men and one for women. On the back right side of the open office is the conference room, and to the left of that is a workroom. The ceiling is a ceiling tile. The occupant load for the first floor is 21.
For the second floor, I wanted a T-shaped path to get through the apartment. The first thing you see walking into the apartment is the living room, and to the left of that is the kitchen and the hallway to the other rooms. Going down the hallway the 2 rooms on the left is the guest bedrooms. On the right side of the hallway the first room is the half - bathroom and next to it is the laundry room. At the end of the hallway is the master bedroom on the left, and next to it is the full bathroom. The ceiling is a drywall ceiling, the height varies The occupant load for the second floor is 14.
The exterior walls are brick with metal stud that is 1' - 1 7/8". The interior walls are 5 1/2". There is 3 parking spaces on the entrance side of the building.

PROJECT 1 ASSIGNMENTS
ASSIGNMENT 1 - PRELIMINARY SPACE PLAN
In assignment 1, this is where I had to come up with an idea where the rooms get placed on each floor. The stairs are located on the inner back portion of the building, rather than being on the outer front side of the building. On the first floor, the reception was in the middle with storage room on one side and mechanical on the other side. The hallway divides the reception from the main offices.
The second floor has a circular path. The living room and the kitchen are the first rooms you see when you enter the apartment. The master bedroom, full bathroom, and misc. storage are in the back of the apartment. The laundry room and the half bathroom are in the middle. And the guest bedrooms are on the left side. ASSIGNMENT 3 - LIFE SAFETY PLANS
In assignment 3, this goes over the life safety plans. This has a code study for each floor. The floor plans change here to more of what the final construction drawings show. The occupant load on the first floor was 12. And the occupant load on the second floor was 6.
ASSIGNMENT 4.5 - INTERMEDIATE FLOOR PLANS
In assignment 4.5, this is an updated version of the floor plan. The floor plans here are what is going to be on the final construction drawings. This is where the first floor is kind of a straight walkthrough, while the second floor has a T-shaped path. This also goes over the exterior wall construction.
ASSIGNMENT 6 - BUILDING SECTIONS + WALL SECTIONS
For assignment 6, this just shows the building sections and wall sections. In the wall sections page there is a materials legend.
|
ASSIGNMENT 2 - CODE STUDY
In assignment 2, this is just a code study over the entire building.
ASSIGNMENT 4 - EXTERIOR ELEVATIONS
For assignment 4, this shows the exterior elevations. The staircase is now located on the outside of the building to allow more space on the inside. The staircase is located on the north side of the building. Both entrances for the office and the apartment are located on the north side of the building.
ASSIGNMENT 5 - FLOOR PLANS AND REFLECTED CEILING PLANS
For assignment 5, this has floor plans with fixtures and permanent furniture. There is also ceiling plans with just the ceiling, no ceiling lights yet.

ASSIGNMENT 7 - LEGENDS AND SCHEDULES
In assignment 7, this just shows a draft of the construction drawings and any updates to any of the pages.
Project #2 Construction Set
Project 2 is a 2 story building, the first floor being a retail space and the second floor is an office. The building's address is 2910 N College Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46205.
For the first floor, I kept it simple. On the first floor the first thing you walk into is the retail space which the owner can customize how it looks. Going to the back of the retail space, there is a storage room that it connects to. Going to the storage room, there is a loading dock in the back of the storage room. Coming from the storage and going to the left, there is an open area. In the front of the open area are 2 bathrooms, one for men and one for women. In the back of the open area is a staircase and a elevator.
For the second floor is an office. The first thing you see walking into the office is the reception area and the open office. On the left side of the open office is: first is print/copy area, next to that is the break area, and next to that is the conference room. On the right side of the open office is the 2 bathrooms, one is for men and the other is for women. At the back of the open office is 3 closed door offices. The ceiling is a ceiling tile throughout most of the open office. For the bathrooms, closed door offices, and conference room the ceiling is a drywall ceiling, the height varies room to room.
The exterior walls are brick/CMU with metal stud that is 1' - 1 7/8". The interior walls are 5 1/2". There is 4 parking spaces on the entrance side of the building, and 24 parking spaces on the back side of the building.

PROJECT 2 ASSIGNMENTS
ASSIGNMENT 1 - SITE ANALYSIS
In assignment 1, this shows the site analysis of the sites location. The site analysis shows the weather in the area, and the temperatures in the area that occur year round.
ASSIGNMENT 2 - INTERMEDIATE BUILDING DESIGN
In assignment 2, it goes over exterior elevations, floor plans, and finding a place where the building should be located in the site location. I kept the location for the entrance, staircase/elevator, and loading/unloading dock. For L07, I have windows on the entrance side and the right side of the entrance. For V03, I did this through the circular staircase. For S03, I closed off the conference room and the private offices.
ASSIGNMENT 4 - INTERIOR ELEVATIONS
In assignment 4, this goes over the interior elevations in the office. I have 3 lateral office cabinets and copy/printer in the copy/print area. In the break area, I have plenty of cabinet storage for the staff. There is a refrigerator, dishwasher, sink, and microwave.

ASSIGNMENT 1.5 - PREDESIGN BRAINSTORM
In assignment 1.5, this goes over 3 WELL Building Standards, predesign brainstorm ideas, and re-goes over the site analysis. I chose L07, V03, and S03 for WELL Building Standards. For the predesign brainstorm, I thought about having the entrance at the front of the store. I also had the staircase/elevator area in the back of the building. On the back right is where the loading/unloading dock, this is so that noise coming from the loading dock will not bother the neighboring house as much.
ASSIGNMENT 3 - DETAIL VIEWS
In assignment 3, this goes over the building and wall sections in the project.
ASSIGNMENT 4.5 - ENLARGED PLANS + SECTIONS
In assignment 4.5, this goes over enlarged floor plans and sections.

ASSIGNMENT 5 - CD DRAFT
In assignment 5, this goes over the draft construction set and any updates to any of the pages.
